MarkdownEbook.com — Initial Release 🎉

Turn Markdown into a real ebook, not just a PDF

Today, I’m excited to share the initial release of MarkdownEbook.com.

MarkdownEbook is a browser-based ebook generator that lets you turn a collection of Markdown files into a beautiful, book-quality ebook — with proper layout, structure, and publishing-ready output.

No servers.
No uploads.
No complicated setup.

Just Markdown → Ebook.

Why MarkdownEbook?

There are already many tools that convert Markdown to PDF.

But most of them treat a book as:

“a long document”

A real ebook is more than that.

A real book has:

  • Chapters and sections

  • Consistent typography

  • Proper margins and spacing

  • Page breaks that make sense

  • A layout that feels published

MarkdownEbook is built specifically for books, not generic PDFs.

What MarkdownEbook Does (v0)

With the initial release, you can:

  • 📂 Upload multiple Markdown files
Each file becomes a chapter or section.

  • 🧩 Reorder and organize content
Your book structure is explicit and predictable.

  • 🎨 Apply a book-style layout
Clean typography, consistent spacing, readable defaults.

  • 📘 Export a polished ebook PDF
Something you’d actually feel comfortable sharing or publishing.

  • 🔒 Everything runs in your browser
Your files never leave your machine.

This is a single-page app, fully client-side.

Who Is This For?

MarkdownEbook is designed for people who already write in Markdown and want less friction turning that writing into a real book:

  • Indie hackers writing guides or handbooks

  • Developers turning docs into ebooks

  • Writers who prefer Markdown over WYSIWYG editors

  • Educators preparing course materials

  • Anyone tired of fighting LaTeX or heavyweight publishing tools

If you’ve ever thought:

“Why is making a nice ebook so much harder than writing it?”

This tool is for you.

What Makes It Different?

1. Book-first, not PDF-first

Most tools stop at “looks okay on screen.”

MarkdownEbook focuses on:

  • Long-form readability

  • Chapter boundaries

  • Book-style page flow

2. Zero server dependency

No uploads, no accounts, no waiting.

This makes it:

  • Faster

  • More private

  • More reliable

3. Simple, opinionated defaults

You don’t need to tweak 50 settings to get a decent result.

The goal is:

Good results by default, power when you need it.

Current Limitations (and That’s OK)

This is an initial release, so there are things not included yet:

  • Limited themes

  • PDF only (for now)

  • No advanced typography controls

  • No cover designer

  • No EPUB export

That’s intentional.

The focus right now is:

A solid, reliable Markdown → Ebook pipeline

What’s Coming Next

Planned directions include:

  • 📚 Multiple book themes (technical, fiction, nonfiction)

  • 🖼️ Cover templates

  • 📖 EPUB export

  • 🧒 Children’s book / board book layouts

  • ⚙️ Advanced layout controls (widows/orphans, spacing, breaks)

  • 💎 Pro features for serious publishing workflows

The goal is to grow MarkdownEbook into a proper ebook tooling platform, while keeping the core experience simple.
